Ants

Ants are common insects that can be found in most parts of the world. While there are many different species of ants, all ants have a few defining characteristics. They have bodies with three sections: a head, an abdomen and a thorax. In addition, all ants have six legs and bent antennae.
Did you know?
Ant position within the colony will ultimately determine its lifespan. Males, for example, only live for a few weeks and die after mating with a queen. The female workers can live for several months. Queen ants, on the other hand, can live for decades.

If ants come marching in, we’ll send them packing.

Cockroaches

Cockroaches, also known as roaches, are insects from the Blattaria order. Out of 4,600 species, around 30 of them like to hang out in human habitats. These critters are ancient and have been incredibly successful. In fact, their body shape hasn't really changed much over the last 300 million years!
Cockroaches have become experts at adapting to human living spaces and can be found in communities all over the world. Their ability to hitch a ride with humans during transportation has contributed to their wide distribution. These creatures are incredibly versatile, and you can spot them in various places like decaying leaf litter, under bark, in caves and burrows, on shrub foliage, in social insect nests, in rotting wood, and even semi-aquatic environments.

Seen one too many? Get in touch & we’ll send them packing.

Bed Bugs

Bed bugs are tiny parasitic insects that survive by feeding on human blood through the skin. They don't actually live on humans or burrow into the skin. These bugs are pretty mobile, but they only move short distances to find their food source (blood), which is why they're often found near it
Bed bugs are mostly a bothersome pest rather than a major health risk. There's no evidence suggesting they transmit any infectious diseases. These critters can survive for up to six months at room temperature and can go for quite a while without a blood meal. While they usually feed at night, they can also take advantage of any opportunity to feed whenever it arises.

Take action now to remove bed bugs & make your home a comfortable and itch-free environment for you and your loved ones.

Rodents

Rodents, like mice and rats, are part of the Rodentia order, which includes over 2,200 species, representing more than 40% of all mammal species in this group.
Australia is home to over 60 native rodent species and three introduced pest species, and these rodents can cause significant damage to your property, from insulation to electrical cables, floor joints, and walls, while also undermining building structures and retaining walls through their burrowing activities. The main pest rodents in Australia include the House Mouse, Roof Rat, and Norway Rat.

We offer a wide range of effective solutions to stop them in their tracks.

Termites

They're social insects that construct big nests in soil or wood, can occasionally harm wooden structures; often mistaken as 'white ants', they belong to a distinct insect group (Order Isoptera) from true ants (Order Hymenoptera). The most common pest species are found in five families: Mastotermitidae, Kalotermitidae, Termopsidae, Rhinotermitidae, and Termitidae.
To effectively control pest termites, it's essential to identify the species, locate their nests, and employ suitable eradication methods; since no single method works against every pest species, a combination of annual building inspections in termite-prone areas, using naturally resistant or treated timbers, and installing chemical and physical soil barriers around buildings is crucial to prevent future issues.

Act now to control termites and protect your property from ongoing or future damage

Spiders

Australia is home to an impressive diversity of around 10,000 spider species spread across various ecosystems, and while they coexist with us in urban and rural areas, spider bites are relatively uncommon, making them less life-threatening than snakes, sharks, or bees.
However, despite their infrequent bites, many people prefer to ensure their homes are spider-free for added peace of mind. Keeping spiders away from living spaces can reduce the chances of accidental encounters and potential bites, especially for those with arachnophobia or sensitivity to venomous bites. Regularly inspecting and maintaining your living areas, sealing gaps and cracks, and implementing spider deterrent measures can help create a comfortable and spider-free environment indoors, without harming these beneficial creatures in their natural habitats.

If you're done with spiders, we can help.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • How long do treatments usually last?

The length of effectiveness for pest control treatments can vary widely based on several factors including the type of pest, the severity of the infestation, the methods used, and environmental conditions. Here are some general timelines:

    1. General Pest Control: For common pests like ants, cockroaches, spiders, and silverfish, treatments usually last from 2 to 3 months. Some advanced products or methods may provide protection for up to 6 months.

    2. Termite Treatment: Termite treatments can last from a few years to more than five years, depending on the product used. For example, a termite baiting system requires regular monitoring and refilling of baits, but a chemical soil treatment might protect a home for several years.

    3. Rodent Control: After the initial rodent population is eliminated (which might take a few days to a few weeks), preventive measures can keep rodents away indefinitely. However, without ongoing maintenance, new rodents can invade from surrounding areas at any time.

    4. Bed Bug Treatment: Depending on the severity of the infestation and the treatment used, it may take several treatments over a few weeks to fully eliminate bed bugs. Once they’re gone, though, they don’t typically come back unless reintroduced from an outside source.

Regular follow-up inspections and treatments are often necessary to ensure a pest problem is fully resolved and to prevent re-infestation. It’s recommended to consult with a professional pest control service like WA Pest Consultants to determine a pest management plan that suits your specific situation.

  • Why are some pest control people more expensive then others?

The cost of pest control services can vary due to several factors, some of which include:

    1. Experience and Reputation: Companies or individuals with a significant amount of experience or a particularly strong reputation in the field may charge more for their services.

    2. Quality of Products: Higher quality pesticides and equipment can result in more effective treatments, but they also cost more. If a company uses premium products, they may charge more to cover these costs.

    3. Comprehensive Services: Some pest control companies offer comprehensive services that include ongoing maintenance, inspections, and guarantees, which can increase the cost.

    4. Location and Overhead Costs: Companies in urban areas or places with a higher cost of living may charge more due to increased overhead costs. Additionally, travel costs for more remote locations can increase prices.

    5. Type and Severity of Infestation: Certain pests are more difficult to control than others, and severe infestations may require more resources to manage. Companies may charge more for these more complex situations.

    6. Customized Solutions: Tailoring a pest control strategy to a specific situation can involve more time and resources, which can increase the cost.

    7. Insurance and Licenses: Companies that carry extensive insurance or maintain multiple professional licenses may have higher operating costs that get passed onto customers.

It’s always recommended to obtain several quotes when looking for a pest control service. Price is just one factor to consider – the quality of work, safety practices, and customer service are equally, if not more, important. Consulting with a professional pest control service like WA Pest Consultants can help you understand what you’re paying for and ensure you receive effective treatment.

  • I've found a few termites on my property, should I be worried?

If termites are found in your home or property and no action is taken to control them, they can cause significant damage over time. Here’s what could potentially happen:

    1. Structural Damage: Termites feed on wood and can weaken the structural integrity of a building. This can lead to expensive repairs or even make a building unsafe to occupy if the infestation is allowed to progress for too long. Termite damage is not always visible on the surface, and by the time you notice it, substantial harm may have already been done.
    2. Decreased Property Value: If left untreated, a termite infestation can decrease the value of your property. Potential buyers usually require a pest inspection, and the presence of termites or termite damage can be a significant deterrent.
    3. Loss of Belongings: Termites don’t just eat structural wood. They can also damage furniture, books, and other belongings.
    4. Increased Infestation: Over time, a termite colony can grow larger and more destructive. What starts as a small problem can quickly become a large, more expensive one.

While DIY termite control options exist, they are often less effective than professional treatments and can be risky if not done correctly. Considering the extensive damage termites can cause, it’s usually a good idea to get professional help as soon as possible if you suspect a termite infestation.

In Western Australia, companies like WA Pest Consultants are experienced in handling termite problems and can provide a comprehensive solution, including detection, treatment, and ongoing management to prevent future infestations.

  • How much does it cost?

The cost of your pest control with will depend on a few different things, including what pests are in your area and the size of your property, among other factors. Fortunately. we’re always willing to come out and create a plan to provide you the best pest control possible at no cost to you.
